
We’re headed into the next evolution of the automotive industry, and Toyota is leading the way. We’ve seen a ton of innovations from the Japanese manufacturer over the past few years, including the ever-popular Prius – a vehicle that sets the bar so high in fuel efficiency that no one has been able to top it as of yet. Toyota has also been a peach about expanding into the compact car market, and the Corolla and Camry models have continued to stay on top of their game in terms of fuel efficiency, performance and all-around reliability. But all good auto manufacturers and businessmen know that to stay in the game, you have to keep your offerings diversified and mass market your brand to a wide variety of consumers.
Toyota is doing just this. While a lot of the recent media buzz has been around the small car market, it’s true that the media doesn’t always reflect the focus of the entire automotive market. And Toyota aims to continue its position as a top competitor in bigger vehicles, too. In fact, recent reports conclude that your Chicago new Toyota dealer won’t be losing its grasp on the Tundra or Sequoia models anytime soon. But you have to cut corners somewhere, and 2010 Chicago Toyota dealerships even understand that. It looks like the models that Toyota is running and gunning for are the FJ Cruiser and 4Runner lines, both of which have enjoyed enormous popularity in the past but may no longer serve a market with a growing focus on small cars and fuel efficiency.
In terms of movements for or against these previously popular models, Toyota is not ready to say whether it will discontinue either of them. But head of U.S. sales operation Jim Lentz says that the vehicles will be up on the scales, and if they don’t weigh in at the right poundage, they may face extinction in the coming year. While your Chicago new Toyota dealer will mourn the loss of either vehicle, you’ll still be able to find them at Chicago used Toyota dealerships. It’s a sad day to see two models you’ve grown up with on the chopping block, but that’s the way it is in business. And when your business has taken the pounding that Toyota and the rest of the industry have undergone over 2009, you might consider making a few changes too.
Speaking of that, while Toyota has jumped out ahead of most of the manufacturers in the auto industry over the past couple years, recent recalls have secured the feeling that the Japanese manufacturer has seen better days. 2010 Chicago Toyota drivers still share the faith they’ve always had in their company, but Nissan and Chevy are breaking into the efficiency circle with electric battery technology that could threaten the Prius’ title as queen. We can imagine that Chicago used Toyota dealerships won’t take much of a hit from the Prius’ fall from power, but Toyota better be lining up a big announcement and right quick.
